WATCHPRO HOT 100 INSPIRING INDEPENDENTS: Celeste, Jerry & Evan Bern, Marshall Pierce & Company

Marshall Pierce has been serving Chicago for 126 years, making it one of the oldest jewelers in the country.

Family jeweler Marshall Pierce’s impressive glass-fronted showroom sits proudly on Chicago’s North Michigan Avenue, a street that is known as the city’s Magnificent Mile.

The 3,000 square foot boutique, offering fine jewelry alongside watches from Cartier, IWC, Jaeger-LeCoultre, Panerai, Speake Marin, Zenith and Parmigiani, is advertised as the largest family-owned and operated store on the strip.

Current owner Jerry Bern is a sixth-generation jeweler, and now at the head of the business, which was founded in 1928 and bought by Jerry’s family in 1967.

He is ably assisted by the seventh generation, Celeste and Evan Bern.

If you include its time under previous owners, Marshall Pierce has been serving Chicago for 126 years, making it one of the oldest jewelers in the country.

The current showroom on the Magnificent Mile opened in 2015, and has the space to offer clients a peerless level of hospitality and expertise.

Along with the team’s expertise in watches, the Bern family has always been steeped in the gems and jewelry sector, with Evan following his father in getting a broad education including a Graduate Gemology degree from the GIA.

Celeste also cut her teeth in the jewelry world with a stint at Cartier in Beverly Hills before joining the family business in 2019 as marketing director.

She is now responsible for driving the branded jewelry offer.
