Flares, mullets, double denim, Elton John. There is literally nothing from the 1970s that isn’t hot right now.
Hamilton is not about to miss a trick and has updated its line of modern PSR digital watches with fresh models in gold and steel pieces inspired by a Pulsar watch from 1974.
Hamilton first relaunched the PSR in December 2021 as part of a collaboration with Matrix Resurrections, itself a reboot of the classic movie franchise.
PSR is a name given to watches inspired by models made by the Hamilton-owned Pulsar brand in the 1970s.
Pulsar was sold to in 1978, so the brand and intellectual property cannot be used by Hamilton, but you can’t trademark an idea or the memory of those early Pulsar pieces so the PSR name was coined.
This season’s new PSRs are inspired by the Pulsar Cushion from 1974.
Now named the PSR 74 they come in 31mm cushion-shaped cases in steel or gold PVD on muscular tapered integrated bracelets that have a touch of the Iron Man vibe about them.
There are push buttons on both sides of the case, which give it more symmetry and activate both date and time simultaneously, if required, in the same red numeral font as Pulsar used in the 1970s.
The gold watch is retailing now for $845 while the steel piece is $745.
