Omega unfurls ultimate tool watch for competitive sailors

Omega Seamaster Regatta in titanium is the ideal sailing companion for the America's Cup.

Omega has unveiled a modern tool watch with physical hands and digital displays combining to offer the ultimate timing companion for competitive sailors.

Where better to hold the launch than at the 37th America’s Cup, which is underway in Barcelona, and where Omega is the Official Timekeeper.

The 46.75mm Omega Seamaster Regatta in titanium is more than just a status symbol, it is bristling with functions/complications.

These include a moonphase indicator, a chronograph, a sailing logbook, temperature gauge, accelerometer, three alarms and a regatta race function run from a brand-new multifunctional Omega Calibre 5701 quartz movement.

Raynald Aeschlimann, president and CEO of Omega likens the Seamaster Regatta to the Speedmaster Skywalker X33, a quartz watch with a digital screen for features useful to astronauts.

“It’s essentially a multifunctional tool that you can wear on your wrist. As its name makes clear, this is the perfect timepiece for sailors, and the timing is right for its release. The great boat race in Barcelona is sure to inspire sailors all over the world, and this watch is all about meeting their needs,” he suggests.

Omega has considered the challenges of life at sea in the design and functionality of the Regatta including a highly legible LCD display with black markings on a white-grey background.

It is also easy to use in turbulent seas with control handled by four large pushers.

The watch is being launched as a special edition with its closed case back embossed with the 37th America’s Cup logo and engraved with the words SEAMASTER REGATTA and 37th AMERICA’S CUP.

The watch is priced at $7,400, but not yet available from Omega’s online store.
