Omega Railmaster returns

Reissue picks up the design of the original 1975 railwayman's timekeeper.

Omega’s anti-magnetic Railmaster has been shunted out of the siding for a third time with in a fresh range of three-handers

The collection was initially produced between 1957 and 1963 as an everyman time-only watch in a style that paved the way aesthetically for the Seamaster Aqua Terra family.

It was given its name because it was made with an inner case that protected it from shocks and magnetic fields that might affect watches worn by engineers, industrialists and scientists who were working around rail lines.

Railmaster returned to the Omega stable in 2003, 40 years after being discontinued, but never challenged the brand’s Speedmaster or Seamaster as bestsellers and was replaced in 2012 with the improved Railmaster Master Chronometer, which was quietly shelved last year.

New for 2025 are a pair of vintage-inspired Railmasters in Aqua Terra-style 38mm steel cases with polished and brushed finishing.

A monochrome version with a graduated grey to black dial with a grained finish has central hours, minutes and seconds hands.

An alternative with a beige to black faded dial, shows seconds on a sub dial at 6 o’clock.

Both can be bought on a redesigned steel bracelet or leather strap.

They are powered by Omega’s Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 8806 or Small Seconds 8804, which is all-but impervious to interference by magnetic fields.
