Maurice Lacroix likes to use its Aikon watch as a canvas for contemporary artists.
Its first experience was with Hungarian artist @Timeengraver, who customized his own Aikon watch.
This led to a more formal arrangement where the artist gave a green light for his work to feature on the limited edition Aikon Automatic Urban Tribe and Aikon Automatic Skeleton Urban Tribe.
Two years’ later, the engraver produced another custom watch, this time with illustrations by British street artist Wotto.
Once again, Maurice Lacroix is building on the unofficial partnership with an artist and developing it into a more formal collaboration that has now created the Aikon Automatic Wotto Limited Edition with engravings of Wotto’s signature mushrooms, hearts, skateboarding ghosts and lightning flashes across the case and bracelet.
The engraving is far from subtle, but it pales in contrast to the dial’s tattoo-like artwork of characters and flourishes directly from the artist’s febrile mind.
The watch is powered by an automatic ML115 caliber, based on a Sellita SW200-1 with 38-hour power reserve and comes in a 42mm steel case that is water resistant to 660 feet.
Maurice Lacroix is making 1,000 pieces for worldwide distribution.
It is on sale now for CHF 2,700.
