Omega, Bulgari and Cartier are taking to the oceans with boutiques on the Spectrum of the Seas, which is back offering cruises from its homeport in Shanghai to destinations in Japan including Fukuoka, Okinawa, Nagasaki, and Osaka.
Owned and run by Starboard and Royal Caribbean International, the cruise liner has returned to China following the easing of covid-related restrictions and a major upgrade to its retail offer.
“As a cruise retail leader in the Chinese market since 2006, we’re thrilled to continue our long-standing partnership with Royal Caribbean, curating an elevated retail program that captures the nation’s rich heritage through carefully selected global and Asian brands, luxury designers, and engaging experiences that meet the sophisticated preferences of Chinese travelers,” says Lisa Bauer, president and CEO of Starboard.
“Spectrum of the Seas’ return is a significant milestone in the global cruise industry, signalling the positive momentum of the China market and consumers’ demand for cruising.”
Business is bouncing back more slowly than major watch marques would like in China and Hong Kong, but traveling Chinese are showing more willingness to spend.
That may have attracted Bulgari, Cartier and Omega to open boutiques, which all adopt the styling of their land-based stores for their Spectrum of the Seas doors.
The ship’s multibrand luxury showroom, Regalia, is offering watches from Longines, Jaeger-LeCoultre, IWC Schaffhausen and Hublot along with luxury fine jewelry from brands including FRED, Mikimoto, and Messika.
