Hublot makes watches from Djokovic’s used tennis kit

24-time Grand Slam title winner has his racquets and clothing recycled into material for Big Bang watches.

Hublot has made a lightweight watch using material from leftover racquets and polo shirts of its brand ambassador and former world number one tennis star Novak Djokovic.

The watchmaker developed a composite from Head racquets and Lacoste polo shirts used by Djokovic during the 2023 season.

The composite makes up the case and bezel of the limited-edition Big Bang Unico Novak Djokovic.

Instead of sapphire crystal, Hublot watchmaker has used tempered lightweight Gorilla glass, which is around half the weight.

The Big Bang Unico Novak Djokovic comes with four different straps, from a Lacoste tennis wristband to a Velcro strap.

The watch was unveiled at a special event in Paris, where Djokovic was hosted by Hublot CEO Julien Tornare.

“To reach where I am today, it has required extensive work both physically and most importantly, mentally,” Djokovic said. “The psychology of the game is very important, and when I play, each moment needs to be precise and intentional. This is especially true with what I wear during preparation and competition, as it becomes part of my body, my mind.”

He added: “Every detail is critical to my ability to stay focused and determined. This new watch is an extension of this mindset and represents key moments from my 2023 season, a landmark year in my career. It is a symbol of every game, every moment. It has been an incredible experience to collaborate with Hublot to create this special watch.”

Djokovic has been a Hublot ambassador since 2021.

He turned professional in 2003 and since his first Grand Slam at the Australian Open in 2008, has gone on to dominate the game.

Djokovic has won 24 Grand Slam titles – ahead of Rafael Nadal, with 22, and Roger Federer, who won 20 titles before his retirement in 2022.

When he won gold at the Paris 2024 Olympics, he became only the fifth player to complete the Golden Slam – winning all four major titles and a singles Olympic gold medal.

The Hublot Big Bang Unico Novak Djokovic is a limited edition of 100 watches priced at $52,700.
