Girard-Perregaux and Aston Martin expose the engine of black ceramic and racing green Laureato

Partnership develops to create watch with shared DNA of the Swiss watchmaker and British carmaker

Power, precision and performance materials combine in the latest watch to emerge from a partnership between Girard-Perregaux and Aston Martin.

The Laureato Skeleton Aston Martin Edition is the latest in a series of special editions that began in 2021 with a Tourbillon with Three Flying Bridges limited edition with James Bond’s preferred carmaker.

GP and Aston Martin have evolved their collaboration over time, with watchmaker and carmaker bringing their own experience, expertise, heritage and signature aesthetics to their watches.

“The challenge is always to maintain the excellence that we have always had in terms of proportion, performance and that recognisable, very distinctive image and language,” describes Marek Reichman, executive vice president and chief creative officer at Aston Martin.

The new Laureato Skeleton Aston Martin Edition focuses on ceramic, which is used at Aston Martin to bring its cars’ paintwork to a scratch-resistant sheen.

GP has created an Aston Martin Racing Green ceramic for previous editions, but this time the watch comes in a 42mm black ceramic case with horizontal satin finishing and an integrated bracelet in the same material with contrasting polished and satin finishes.

Racing Green is used more sparingly this time to add an Aston Martin association to a boldly skeletonized dial.

The time-only watch has green skeletonized hands filled with a slightly more mossy green colored lume. Floating hour markers use the same combination.

Skeletonization of the GP01800 automatic movement exposes wheels, gears, balance wheel and a mainspring lurking below brush-finished black PVD-coated bridges.

The underside is equally elaborate thanks to an openworked racing green rotor, which can be seen through an exhibition caseback carrying an Aston Martin logo.

The Laureato watch is a limited edition of 88 pieces. It is on sale today priced at $54,300.
