Marking Military Appreciation Month in May, Bulova has created a new Avigation Hack A-11 watch as an addition to its Military collection inspired by vintage historical timepieces.
America’s fighting forces in World War II relied on “hack” watches, with a hack seconds function to synchronize their movements to the second. To ensure timely completion of missions, the military team would pull out the crown and stop or “hack” the seconds hand at 12 and synchronize their watches.
For Bulova, the Avigation Hack A-11 is a reintroduction of one of the most iconic military watches of World War II, often referred to as The Watch That Won The War.
The original A-11, issued to US forces during the war was only 32mm across, but with an oversized crown.
The modern version is 37mm, but still has a case back stamped with the same ‘Military Spec’ information as the original A-11.
It comes with an automatic Miyota 82S0 3-hand movement with 42 hour power reserve and retails for just $450.
