Vacheron Constantin has introduced a certified pre-owned (CPO) programme that will set a new standard for second hand watches that will be sold with two year international warranties backed by the manufacturer.
The programme will see fully serviced and refurbished pre-owned watches sold alongside new at Vacheron Constantin boutiques and authorised dealers in a similar way that the Rolex CPO process has pioneered.
Vacheron Constantin says the programme underlines its commitment to creating timepieces destined to live several lives.
Every watch that goes through the process will be inspected, certified and maintained by Vacheron Constantin watchmakers before being given fresh tags from the brand and a two year warranty that promises a free repair or replacement for any defective part.
Vacheron Constantin has been recording details for every watch it manufactures since 2019 on the Blockchain as they leave the factory.
The CPO programme will extend this to all watches going through the process, adding information like ownership and service history to a digital passport.
Pre-owned watch specialist Watchfinder, which is a stablemate of Vacheron Constantin at Richemont, is collaborating on the roll-out and will be one of the first retailers to offer certified second hand watches before it is rolled out to other partners including auction houses.
