TAG Heuer launched its Carrera x Porsche Limited Editions at a star-studded party in Paris this week, although the greatest heard-turner on the red carpet turned out to be an immaculate Porsche Carrera 911 RS 2.7, the car that inspired the design of the sporty chronograph.

TAG Heuer CEO Frédéric Arnault was joined at the event by the watchmaker’s chairman, and chief executive Bernard Arnault.

The party took place on the exact same day that Porsche’s first 911 Carerra was unveiled 50 years ago — also in Paris.

“We are delighted to be in Paris to mark the 50th anniversary of the famed Porsche Carrera 911 RS 2.7, the very first of Porsche’s sports cars to bear a name that has united us through the decades, Frédéric Arnault said

“To mark this historical moment and pay tribute to a design that is beloved by all, TAG Heuer introduced two limited edition TAG Heuer Carrera chronographs co-created with Porsche to highlight the car’s most iconic features. The result is a stunning wristwatch, in red or blue, that expresses the unique spirit of the 1970s in a resolutely modern way, a meaningful take on our shared history that will undoubtedly become a collectors’ favorite.”
