We could start with a list of the 60 or more brands that Exquisite Timepieces represents at its emporium in Naples, Florida, but that would take up half of this profile.
So, let’s talk instead about the people behind the business.
Tim, Evan and Steve Richardson are obsessed with watches, and want to share that passion with as wide a community of customers as possible.
What this translates to in retail terms is helping all kinds of customers; be that someone looking to satisfy a horological itch several times a year with a Seiko or Zodiac, or a client ready to stump up for a once-in-a-lifetime purchase from Laurent Ferrier or H. Moser & Cie.
The cater-to-all formula is working.
“Our toughest challenge in the last 12 months is keeping up with our growth,” says Tim. “A good problem to have, for sure.”
Exquisite Timepieces is an omnichannel retailer that has invested heavily in cutting-edge technology and practices that improve functions like customer relations, shipping and internal repair departments.
“I constantly work to improve our flow and our systems so that our collectors have the best experience in our Naples store, or when shopping via our amazing website,” says Tim.
As the store’s name suggests, providing a hands-on experience with exquisite timepieces is paramount.
Ecommerce is important, but the family wants its customers to come into the showroom to get up close with the watches. They are also big believers in multibrand retail, which gives people the chance to compare and contrast watches before buying them.
“Independent retailers often have a diverse and varied selection of luxury watches, as they are not limited to the offerings of a specific brand,” says Steve.
“There will always be a market for the personalized service and expertise that independent retailers can offer.”
Evan is the resident expert in independent watch brands, which have become increasingly important to the company.
“I’m excited about the recent uptick in demand for top-notch independent luxury watch brands like Laurent Ferrier,” he notes.
Living in the Florida Panhandle means the family enjoys year-round sunshine, which might be why they love their trips to the much chillier climes of Europe during the Swiss watch show season.
“I really enjoy skiing whenever I get a chance and I’ll usually get to ride down the beautiful Swiss Alps while visiting the watch manufacturers in Switzerland,” Evan shares.
