Brew Watch, winner of American Watchmaker of the Year at the 2023 WatchPro Awards, has sent one of its Brew Metric Chronograph watches into space.
The stunt was set up as an attempt to make an espresso coffee in space, with the perfect brewing time monitored by the watch, which was dangling under the coffee making machine.
Coffee machine and timekeeper were tethered to a weather balloon and launched 100,000 feet up into the upper stratosphere where the earth’s curve can be seen.
Brew Watch worked with Sent Into Space, which claims to be the world’s first marketing-focused agency specializing in space-themed marketing campaigns and publicity stunts.
Together, they built a carbon fiber vehicle to transport the Metric watch and Ascaso Dream PID espresso machine into space as well as creating the electronics to make and time the making of a cup of coffee.
This year’s WatchPro USA Awards return to Cipriani, 25 Broadway, New York City, on September 4.
