Tudor unfurls a Miami-inspired flamingo Black Bay Chronograph

Breaking embargoes is all part of the modern media plan for a hype watch like the Black Bay Chrono in "Tiffany" blue.

Just hours after David Beckham sparked a frenzy on Instagram for wearing an unreleased turquoise “Tiffany” dialled Tudor Black Bay Chronograph in a shoot for IM8 — a wellness and nutrition brand for which he is a founding co-partner — the watch has been officially launched.

A paid partnership post from overnight shows Mr Beckham on an outdoor terrace in Manhattan nursing one of IM8’s health drinks.

He is also a brand ambassador for Tudor, and was instrumental in creating a pink-dialled version of the Black Bay Chronograph for Inter Miami, the football team he co-owns in the United States.

Today’s release, which enters Tudor’s core collection, builds on the association between Miami and Tudor following the pink Inter Miami version.

Mr Beckham’s post showing the turquoise watch had been viewed this morning close to half a million times.

Tudor says the new “Flamingo Blue” dial chronograph delivers a taste of Miami’s South Beach vibe (current temperature 20C) in the middle of winter.

It comes in the usual 41mm steel-on-steel configuration of regular Black Bay Chronos and houses Tudor’s in house automatic calibre MT5813.

Tudor’s pink-dialed model has seen a price rise of almost 5% to $5,875 today, and the Flamingo-blue piece costs the same.
