The Hour Glass, one of the largest luxury watch retailers in the world, is hosting a four day event in its home state of Singapore where enthusiasts and collectors can meet the men and women behind some of today’s hottest independent watchmakers.
IAMWATCH takes place from October 17 to 20 at The Singapore EDITION hotel, and brings together a stellar line-up of independent entrepreneurs, engineers, designers, retailers, auctioneers and commentators.
The Hour Glass describes the line-up as a roster of participating friends, which includes Alain Silberstein, Alcée Montfort, Alex Ghotbi, Anton Suhanov, Aurel Bacs, Benoît Mintiens, David Rooney, Eléonor Picciotto, Emmanuel Esposito, Felix Baumgartner, Florian Bédat, Franc Vila, Gaël Petermann, Gautier Massonneau, Hughes Low, Ilya Gelfman, Jean Arnault, Kari Voutilainen, Konstantin Chaykin, Lee Yuen-Rapati, Manuel Emch, Masaki Saito, Matthieu Haverlan, Max Quintavalle, Maximilian Büsser, Patrick Pruniaux, Philippe Lebru, Pierre Biver, Pierre Jacques, Pierre Millereau, Raúl Pagès, Rémi Maillat, Rémy Cools, Rexhep Rexhepi, Robert Bray, Sam Hines, Sean Li, SJX, Stepan Sarpaneva, Sylvain Pinaud, Théo Auffret, Tiffany To and Wei Koh.
The dress code for IAMWATCH is ‘Double-wristed, Resort casual’ with delegates encouraged to wear watches on both wrists.
“The story of time stretches back over two millennia and the evolution of the portable watch, over the last 500 years. There is so much history to forage through and at IAMWATCH, our desire is to lay a foundation of knowledge about the developmental path of the horological science and the watchmaking arts,” says The Hour Glass Group managing director Michael Tay, Group.
“Our hope is that all delegates leave IAMWATCH enriched by the human connections they have made, educated by the lectures and plenary sessions we have proposed and, motivated to continue down this joyous path of watch collecting into the future.”
The focus of the event will not be so much on products, but more on bringing the community of watch leaders together.
Ahmed Seddiqi & Sons, which is headquartered in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, alternates every year between holding the Dubai Watch Week exhibition in its home city and a Horology Forum elsewhere in the world.
This year the forum is taking place in Hong Kong from 22-24 October, just after the event in Singapore.
IAMWATCH will include presentations from more than 40 executives along with a series of fireside chats and horological lectures.
The opening day, October 17, is by invitation-only, but the event opens to the public from October 18-20.
