Rado reissues its quirky Diastar with a skeletonized dial

Skeletonised dial exposes the inner workings of the automatic Rado calibre R808 in a Ceramos watch.

Rado has released of a remake of its 1962 Diastar, a watch that broke new ground with its distinctive shape and toughened tungsten-carbide case.

The watch epitomized the mantra of Rado’s founders, who loved to say, “If we can imagine it, we can make it. And if we can make it, we will.”

It also meets the criteria of the modern Rado slogan: Master of Materials.

The Swatch Group-owned brand brought the Diastar back last year with a 60th anniversary version made from its trademarked Ceramos ceramic-based material.

Now it has a fresh edition for the summer, made from polished Ceramos, which looks a lot like polished titanium, a steel inner case, and comes with a skeletonized dial, exposing the inner workings of the automatic Rado calibre R808, a three-hand movement with 80-hour power reserve and an antimagnetic Nivachron hairspring.

The 38mm watch comes on a polished and brushed stainless steel bracelet.

It is retailing for $2,050.
