Olive-dialed $500,000 Patek Philippe Nautilus appears without reserve price at Wilsons Auctions

Diamond-studded Patek Philippe Nautilus 5711/1300A has never been sold before without a reserve

Wilsons Auctions, which auctions watches and other luxury items seized by law enforcement agents and other authorities, is offering an exceptional Patek Philippe Nautilus 5711/1300A at this month’s sale, which runs for 48 hours from 11am on August 28.

Wilsons says this is only the third time the diamond-decorated Patek Phillippe Nautilus 5711/1300A with an olive green dial has appeared at a public auction, and the first time it has been offered without a reserve price.

Patek Philippe unveiled the 5711/1300A in April 2021 in the same season it discontinued the blue-dialed steel version of the 5711/1A-010 and focused on versions of its legendary sports watch in precious metals.

The model at auction is decorated with 32 flawless top Wesselton baguette diamonds.

It was in production for one year only to mark the end of an era for the maritime-inspired Nautilus, originally designed to be made in steel by Gerald Genta.

The last time the reference came to auction, a piece owned by Sylvester Stallone sold in June for $492,000 at Sotheby’s in New York City.

Wilsons Auctions says the watch was seized by police, without providing further details.

Proceeds of sale will be reinvested by the government into public services and community initiatives.

Another iconic model appearing at the August 28 auction is an Audemars Piguet Royal Oak, reference 15500ST, another historic watch designed by Mr Genta.

The 41mm steel watch is being sold in mint condition with a full set of box and papers.

Government sales coordinator at Wilsons Auctions, Michael Streight, says: “This is simply a remarkable opportunity for bidders and incredibly thrilling for us at Wilsons Auctions. The global watch community will recognise this rare and important watch and I hope they will seize the chance to bid and own a very coveted model – excuse the pun!”

“The Luxury Auction will offer bidders an impressive collection of fine jewelry, exclusive timepieces and ultra designer goods.”

“With the ability to identify, recover, store and dispose of any category of asset, we are proud of the work we carry out on behalf of our government clients. The funds from these assets will be returned back into the public purse, allowing us to add to the £150 million worth of assets that have been realised in recent years,” he concluded.
