Swiss watchmaker ochs und junior is paying tribute to the height of Italian summer with a Ferragosto 2024 version of its Luna Sole named after the day in mid-August when Italy comes together and parties.
The ancient Italian festival of Ferragosto is celebrated on August 15th every year.
The special edition of the luna sole watch has a 40mm sterling silver 925 case and is engraved ‘ferragosto 2024’ on the back.
The watch is powered by an ETA-based automatic movement and displays the time, date, along with the sun, moon phase, and the moon’s position relative to the earth and sun.
ochs und junior was co-founded in 2006 by Ludwig Oechslin, who created the Freak movement for Ulysse Nardin and restored the Farnese Astronomical Clock in the Vatican.
ochs und junior’s style, as well as refusing to use capital letters, is to make mechanical watches with a unique style.
Production runs are small, combined with high standards of finishing.
The ochs und junior ferragosto 2024 comes with a two-year guarantee and costs CHF 8,500 plus local taxes.
