Nomos Glashütte’s double date

Tangente 2date sports introduces new hand-wound movement from the German watchmaker.

Why have one date, when you can have two?

This was a question a watch company put to itself in the former East German town of Glashütte.

Nomos Glashütte has presented the Tangente 2date, which has the unusual layout of a traditional date window at 6 o’clock, combined with a date ring around the outside of the dial.

It is the first hand-wound watch from the Saxony-based brand to get the more unusual Nomos date ring.

And the 2date’s two dates are splendid for anyone who just can’t get enough of the day of the month.

The stainless-steel case has a diameter of a classically sized 37.5mm.

Its new highly finished movement has a skeletonised balance cock and a power reserve of 52 hours.

It has a quick set date mechanism, allowing changes with a few turns of the crown after pulling it out into the second of three positions.

The two-part steel case offers water resistance of 50m, perfectly adequate for this type of watch.

The sapphire crystals front and back have anti-reflective coating to give a clear view of the calibre DUW 4601 movement and the dial and its dates.

Hands are rhodium plated and the watch comes on black leather strap.

The Tangente 2date comes with either a silver-plated white dial or a blue sunburst dial.
