Mr Jones Watches is promising to make more of its most popular watches with mechanical movements this year, and is kicking-off with its all-time bestseller, A Perfectly Useless Afternoon.
The iconic watch encourages relaxation with its scene of a character languidly floating in a swimming pool with their outstretched leg showing the hour and a rubber duck floating around the watch face for the minutes.
A model housing a Swiss-made automatic STP1-11 movement goes on sale at 4pm BST tomorrow (April 19) for £495 / $550 / €550 on the Mr Jones website.
The quartz version is $225.
A Perfectly Useless Afternoon was designed by Belgian illustrator and author, Kristof Devos, who took inspiration from Chinese writer and philosopher, Lin Yutang’s famous quote: “If you can spend a perfectly useless afternoon in a perfectly useless manner, you have learned how to live.”
It comes in a 40mm steel case with an exhibition back and will survive any dip in a summer swimming pool with its 50 meter water resistance.
