Maurice Lacroix has created a one-off watch with a hand-made bronze dial for the TimeForArt charity auction.
The auction is organised by a New York non-profit called the Swiss Institute.
The first auction took place in 2022 and put 17 watches under the hammer, raising $1.2 million to support artists.
All of the proceeds – including buyer’s premium – go to help artists through the Swiss Institute’s exhibitions and workshops.
The second edition of the biennial sale is taking place as part of the Phillips New York Watch Auction: XI at 432 Park Avenue on December 7th.
The Maurice Lacroix watch has a skeletonised movement and was made in collaboration with acclaimed Mexican artist Rodrigo Hernández.
The Masterpiece Skeleton ‘With What Eyes?’ has a 43mm bronze case and the dial has a representation of two bronze monkeys looking at each other.
It has an in-house, hand-wound movement and the one-off watch is estimated to fetch between £15,000 and £30,000.
This year, TimeForArt brings together 26 watch brands, from Armin Strom to Zenith, a range of small independent watchmakers along with more established brands. timeforart.ch mauricelacroix.com
