Hamilton makes a vast range of different watches, but is still probably best known for its military field pieces.
It has now released quartz options that offer the field watch range at a more accessible $395 price.
The new Khaki Field Quartz range is inspired by a watch from Hamilton’s back catalogue.
The Hamilton G.S. (“General Service”) watch was made from the mid-1960s to the mid-1970s.
It was designed for British military and government officials.
The watch was “tropicalized” – meaning that as well as being shock and water-resistant, it was designed to cope with hot and humid environments around the world.
On the new Khaki Field Quartz, the military inspiration is clear, and the watches come on a range of NATO straps.
The watch also nods to Hamilton’s history making railroad watches – the quartz watch has a “railway” style minute track.
Although part of the Swatch group and based in Switzerland, Hamilton began life in Pennsylvania in the 19th century and was instrumental in the development of the railroad watch as tracks spread across America and accurate timing was vital.
The new watch is available in four colorways and two sizes: 33mm and 38mm.
Hands are coated with Superluminova for maximum legibility and the watches are water resistant to 50m.
Both sizes of the Khaki Field Quartz cost $395, including free engraving.
