Grand Seiko is looking to repeat the success of three limited edition watches in 2018, made exclusively for the American market, which had dials inspired by the Japanese kirazuri art, which roughly translates as sparkling painting.
The same technique is being used for two more USA exclusives, one in shimmering blue, the other in shades of pink.
Grand Seiko routinely turns to nature for inspiration, and the new SBGA509 and SBGA507 watches are no exception.
The SBGA507’s pink dial is said to be reminiscent of an early sunrise over Lake Suwa near the watchmaker’s Spring Drive manufacture while the cool blue dial of the SBGA509 is more like the sky as evening turns to night.
Both use Grand Seiko’s highly respected Spring Drive Automatic Caliber 9R65, which has been powering the Japanese watchmakers pieces since 20024.
Its reputation is built on the unique Tri-Synchro Regulator that harnesses electrical, electromagnetic and kinetic energy to drive the watch. It is accurate to within ± 15 seconds per month and has a power reserve of three days.
The new US exclusives come in the timeless 44GS case design, first seen in 1967, now measuring 40mm across by 12.5mm deep.
Each is limited to 300 pieces each and will be available for $5,600 at Grand Seiko boutiques, select authorized retailers and online at grandseikoboutique.us.
