Farer is tacking in the direction of more complicated watches with new monopusher chronographs coming with the added function of a second time zone GMT hand pointing to a 24-hour, day/night, internal bezel.
Two models, based on the design and dial layout of the Cobb and Segrave models, have been revealed.
The Segrave Monopusher GMT, mostly in black and white but with signature Farer accents of blue, green and orange, has a 30 minute chronograph counter at 12 o’clock a small seconds subdial at 6.
Cobb comes with a cream and pale blue sunray dial with orange, yellow and darker blue highlights. It has the same subdials indicators, but arranged at 12 and 9 o’clock.
British watchmaker Farer says it took inspiration from the 1970s Heuer Autavia GMT Ref. 1163, one of the earliest watches to combine a racers’ chronograph with a travellers’ GMT complication.
Both Farer watches come in 41mm stainless steel circular cases that stand 14.5mm tall on the wrist and are decorated with a harlequin checked pattern on their sides.
They use slightly different versions of the hand wound Sellita SW530 movement, which has 62-hour power reserve and has been decorated to a standard worthy of exposure via an exhibition case back.
As usual with Farer watches, the monopusher GMTs have quick release straps or steel bracelets that can be bought separately to give each watch multiple personalities.
They are on sale now for $2,195 at Farer.com.
