Audemars Piguet drops three new openworked Royal Oaks

Trio of new models feature brand's openworked automatic double balance wheeled Calibre 3132.

Audemars Piguet has released three new openworked Double Balance Wheel Royal Oaks with contrasting tones between case and movement.

The 41mm watches come with cases and bezels in either stainless steel, black ceramic, or 18k yellow gold.

All three feature AP’s openworked automatic double balance wheeled Calibre 3132.

The movement and inner bezel of the steel and black ceramic variations have a new pink-gold tone which, AP tells us, brings a “warm and vivid touch to the watch”, while highlighting the technicality of the movement.

The eight hexagonal screws on the bezel are also in pink gold.

The stainless-steel version has 18k white-gold hour-markers and hands, in the ceramic model they are blackened rhodium.

The black ceramic watch is engraved with “Limited Edition of 150 Pieces” on its titanium and sapphire caseback.

The yellow gold watch, in contrast, has an anthracite grey movement, combined with yellow gold luminescent hour-markers and hands.

The patented double balance wheel mechanism in the openworked movement was released by Audemars Piguet in 2016.

AP’s version has two balance wheels and two hairsprings on the same axis, and it is claimed to boost precision and stability.

The movement has a power reserve of 45 hours and the watches are water-resistant to 50m.

Openworking has been an AP speciality for as long as anyone can remember and they have dozens of openworked watches in the current catalogue.
