The super-rare Hand Made 1 timepiece is one of only three made a year

There’s a reason Mark Zuckerberg only wears white T-shirts – his millions aren’t in his wardrobe, but on his wrist.

The Meta CEO was spotted wearing a super-rare Greubel Forsey watch in a video posted yesterday announcing his decision to end third-party fact checking on its social media platforms in the US.

Considered a horological masterpiece and one of only three completely handmade models created per year, the Hand Made 1 Tourbillon watch reportedly takes 6,000 hours to make.

An exquisite example of fine watchmaking tradition, all of the movement’s components are hand finished, including the bridges with their polished inner and outer vertical flanks.

It features a unique “gratté main” mainplate, while the partly open dial is distinguished by its hand-enameled décor, paired with flame-blued hands in an exclusive shape.

Its inner workings conceal a regulating organ entirely produced by hand in Greubel Forsey’s Swiss workshops, including the balance spring which is made from an alloy produced in-house.

Here only a few balance springs are cast at a time, whereas in ordinary industrial production, this process makes several hundreds of parts at once.

Appearing increasingly often with an eye-wateringly expensive timepiece in tow, his growing – and somewhat controversial – collection has certainly got the internet talking.
