Miss Piggy never liked sharing the limelight with Kermit, the unrequited love of her life, and has elbowed her favourite green frog aside to take centerstage on a new, bright pink, edition of Oris’s ProPilot X.
Oris introduced the green-dialled Kermit in 2023 as its headline grabber for Watches and Wonders that year and the first watch from a partnership with The Muppets.
Avoiding the crowded news agenda at the Geneva show and getting 2025 off to a flier, Oris has delivered two watch trends in one: character-based collabs and pink-dialled timekeepers.
“We’re very excited to be working with ‘vous’, Miss Piggy, the world’s most fabulous pig,” Rolf Studer, Oris co-CEO, says.
“Like you, we’re optimistic about the future, and we want to have some fun getting there. Life’s too short not to have big dreams and to enjoy yourself. We made this watch for independent, stylish, and above all, fabulous individuals and we couldn’t think of a better collaborator than you, a global icon, to be the star of the project.”
Miss Piggy always appreciates the finer things in life, which may explain Oris’s decision to decorate the dial of her hot pink piece with a baguette diamond replacing a 12 o’clock hour marker.
The Miss Piggy ProPilot X automatic comes in a 34mm stainless steel case.
The movement has been modified with Miss Piggy’s face appearing on a lilac-coloured rotor. As the rotor spins, her face appears in a spyhole in the watch’s polished steel case back.
Unlike with the Kermit edition, where the famous frog’s face appeared instead of the first of the month in the date aperture, Miss Piggy does not show herself at all on the dial side of the watch.
Asked why Oris had chosen Miss Piggy for the second watch in The Muppets series, the company’s co-CEO Claudine Gertiser-Herzog says she is a good role model for contemporary women, adding: “She’s the perfect person to tell the Oris story and a great example of going your own way. I’ve always thought of Miss Piggy as a glamorous and powerful lady, with a unique sense of humour. She makes me laugh and I admire her for her quick wit. She’s a strong personality, full of energy, with an independent mindset, always knowing exactly what she wants”.
