IWC is celebrating the 90th birthday of its founder, Kurt Klaus, with a new design.
The watchmaker’s classic IWC Perpetual Calendar design is attributed to Klaus’ ingenuity at the helm of the company.
After working on it in the early 1980s, Klaus oversaw the release of the company’s first perpetual calendar display watch – the Da Vinci Perpetual Chronograph – in 1985.

The Big Pilot’s Watch Perpetual Calendar “Rodeo Drive” Special Edition features a black ceramic case and a blue dial, and is powered by IWC manufacturer calibre 52615.
The perpetual calendar identifies different month lengths and leap years automatically, and will work until the year 2100 without any correction needed.
Featuring Pellaton winding, the watch’s heavy-duty components are made from ceramic that is virtually wear-resistant.
Its two barrels boast a built-up power reserve of seven days.
The Big Pilot’s Watch also features a soft-iron inner cage, which will protect movement from magnetic fields, and a front crystal that is secured against displacement due to sudden drops in air pressure.
The “Rodeo Drive” Special Edition is available to order from IWC’s website now.
