Seiko Prospex Polygonal Diver gets edgy

It's subtle, but the new Seiko Prospex diver's bezel has gone from round to less round.

Seiko has released a new version of the Prospex diving watch with a dressy multi-sided bezel.

It is one of many recent releases from a brand celebrating its centenary this year – the company was founded in 1881, but Seiko-branded first came out in 1924.

The Seiko Prospex 300m Automatic Polygonal Diver combines hefty water-resistance with a fancy new look.

The aim, Seiko says, is to combine the “qualities of a sports watch with the elegance of a dress watch”.

It is available in a choice of colors: white dial with a black bezel; blue dial and bezel, or gray dial with a bronze bezel.

Each dial is finished with what Seiko calls a “calm coastline pattern” and is protected by a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal.

The stainless-steel case is a shade over 41mm in diameter, and hands and markers are coated in Lumibrite for enhanced visibility in low light.

The watch conforms to professional ISO diving specifications and is water-resistant to 300m.

It is powered by Seiko’s in-house 6R55 automatic movement, accurate to -15/+25 seconds per day, with a three-day power reserve.

The Seiko Prospex 300m Automatic Polygonal Diver costs $1,100.
