Gerald Charles, an independent watchmaker founded by legendary watch designer Gérald Charles Genta, has cracked the United States with a string of new retail partnerships forged following the opening of a subsidiary, Gerald Charles America, in September last year.
In late 2023, five major stores opened with Gerald Charles in America: London Jewelers in New York, Lucido Jewelers in Detroit, Oliver Smith in Arizona, Geneva Seal in Chicago and Stephen Silver in Silicon Valley.
“Entering a significant market like the USA requires a smart and dedicated approach. Our retail strategy consists of placing our trust in a selected number of renowned watchmaking retailers. Most of them are family businesses, with a long history in the haute horlogerie industry, which are considered friends first,” says Federico Ziviani, Gerald Charles CEO.
“We are now proud to share that the US is a leading market for Gerald Charles. Our aim is to gain a solid market presence and to meet our customers’ high expectations, leveraging on both Mr Genta’s legacy and the high-technical savoir faire which allows us to stand out. We trust in the support and expertise of our partners to reach this goal,” he adds.
Mr Ziviani has been on a coast-to-coast roadshow of the United States, and is expecting to announce several new partnerships including Watches of Switzerland in New York City, Manfredi Jewels in Greenwich, CT, Oster Jewelers in Denver, CO, and Diamond International in Orlando Disney Spring, FL.
