Timex is travelling upmarket with the revealing of a titanium GMT watch made in collaboration with US tool company The James Brand.
The watch was designed in a partnership between the team at The James Brand and Timex’s creative director, Italian watchmaker Giorgio Galli.
The watch is powered by a 9075 Miyota automatic movement, and has a prominent Superluminova-filled GMT hand.
It is sold on a 41mm titanium case with bracelet in the same tough and light metal and comes with an additional resin strap.
The watch has quick-release spring bars so you can easily change between bracelet and strap.
If owners plan to go swimming, the GMT has a more-than-adequate 200m of water-resistance.
“With the unpredictable nature of global travel in mind, we sought to design a timepiece that would prepare the wearer for whatever may come,” said Ryan Coulter, founder and chief creative officer at The James Brand. “The Timex x James Brand GMT is a tough, dependable and beautiful watch, but it’s more than just a timekeeping tool, it’s a statement of intention to remain fully present in the moment.”
The James Brand is a knife and tool maker founded in Portland, Oregon in 2012.
“In balancing form and function, crafting a watch that seamlessly marries everyday carry practicality with the premium materials watch enthusiasts look for was nothing short of a horological exploration,” said Giorgio Galli, adding: “The result is a finely sculpted titanium GMT timepiece that not only offers elegance but also stands against the rigors of any adventure life throws its way.”
The GMT costs $749 on its own, or comes as a three-piece box set with a titanium knife and titanium pen for a little more.
