Golden dragon nests on latest Corum Golden Bridge watch

Corum introduced its first Golden Bridge watch in 1980 with its vertical movement splitting the dial and creating a centerpiece around which the brand lets its imagine run wild with miniature artworks.

Corum’s latest Golden Bridge is a special edition watch with a golden dragon roaring from its dial.

“Eye-catching, elegant and powerful, the Golden Bridge Dragon transcends traditional boundaries, serving as a cultural bridge between East and West. Corum has ingeniously integrated the aesthetic of the Swiss watch movement with the rich tapestry of East Asian culture, resulting in a captivating expression of artistry,” the company says.

The dragon, itself, is sculpted in 18ct gold and wraps itself elegantly around the intricately engraved in-line movement, which has 190 parts made of 18ct gold.

Corum is offering customers the opportunity to customize their own version of the watch by chosing from a selection of colours and treatments for the dragon.

As the video at the top reveals, the dragon can be recreated from a single mold before being finished by hand.

Next, the sculpture needs to be placed into the watch, which requires a precision jiggle to thread it in-between the movement, hands, and glass components.

Corum’s Golden Bridge watches have a significant following among collectors, who often come up with designs and treatments for versions they would like to own.

This is how the Golden Bridge Arowana came into existence. The arowana is a powerful symbol of good fortune in Asia where the tortoise is emblematic of strength and longevity. It appears on the same dial as a fish, which symbolizes wealth.

Prices for circular-dialed 43mm Corum Golden Bridge watches range from $60,000 to over $200,000, depending on the complexity and stone settings.
