Longines is bringing a modern twist to the utilitarian aesthetics of its pre-World War II horology in the form of a 43mm Pilot Majetek in steel.
The watch can trace its history back to 1935, when it was first registered as a timepiece for fledgling aviators.
It was large for its time, at 40mm, to make it easy to read for the daredevils taking to the skies, but has been made even larger for today’s tastes.
The cushion shaped case has also been redesigned, although the signature bi-directional bezel is largely untouched.

Today’s model has a matte black dial with contrasting bold white hands and hour markers filled with Super-LumiNova.
Inside, Longines has installed the L893.6 automatic movement with a magnetic-resistant silicon balance spring and 72 hour power reserve.
It is sold on a choice of brown or green leather strap, which can be swapped for a NATO strap for $3,750.
