Patek Philippe Tiffany-dialed Nautilus sells at auction for $3.25 million

Only 170 were made and the first example sold for over $6 million last year. Now Christie’s has auctioned another example, but this time it hammered at almost half the price.

The first Tiffany-dialed Nautilus sold in December last year for over $6 million, but that was a charity auction for the first of 170 pieces that went on sale.

Last weekend, Christie’s had another one of the 170, and this time it sold for CHF 3.2 million ($3.25m), quite a drop in less than a year, but still a staggering profit if it was bought at Tiffany’s original retail price of $52,635.

Christie’s says it held the most successful auction week among its rivals in Geneva, with successful bids totaling $55,540,232 across two sales.

”Holding two high calibre auctions within 24 hours is an unseen moment in watch auction history, making Christie’s the market leader. Our gratitude goes to our worldwide collectors, confirming Christie’s Geneva as a special place for Rolex and masterpieces,” says Remi Guillemin, head of Christie’s Geneva Watch Department says.

The Tiffany-dialed Nautilus was pipped to top spot in the table of most expensive watches.

Top price paid across the two Christie’s auctions was for a Rolex Daytona Lemon (ref. 626) in 18ct gold, one of only three known to exist, which sold for CHF 3.4 million.

The watch was sold with a Watch Certificate tethered to the blockchain.

Double-signed watches have been hot with collectors for decades, and the Tiffany-dialed Patek Philippe Nautilus was not the only example in the Christie’s sales.

A Patek Philippe 1518, signed by Cartier, hammered for CHF 2.2 million.
