ReLuxury, which took place last week in Geneva, will be back in 2023 after reporting that 4,000 people visited the show over its four day run.
ReLuxury is dedicated to the secondary market for jewellery, watches and other collectibles.
eBay was a founding partner of the event, and highlighted its role in the re-commerce economy, particularly its Authenticity Guarantee, which ensures all watches priced at over $2,000 are expertly checked on their way between a seller and buyer.
WatchBox was another major partner, and presented one of the largest collections of F.P. Journe and De Bethune watches at the Geneva show.
Richard Mille, which is embracing the circular economy for watches by running its own certified pre-owned programme with its own boutiques in cities including Las Angeles and London, offered advice and displayed a range of ultra-scarce watches.
Zenith presented its Icon collection of vintage watches and ChronoSwiss showed a range of pre-owned pieces.
The concept was to make ReLuxury more than just an exhibition of pre-owned watches, the aims was to give visitors access to artisans of various trades who restore, service and refurbish collectibles.
Fabienne Lupo, the former event director or Watches and Wonders, who founded of ReLuxury, says: “The objective was to create a show committed to the re-commerce of luxury and collectible pieces, and I feel this was accomplished with ReLuxury. It was also important to be able to talk about the luxury pre-owned market not as taboo but address it as a timely topic and as a global social responsibility.”
“Following the success of this first edition, ReLuxury is already planning its 2023 initiatives. Details will follow soon,” she adds.
