Certina makes brighter companion to its black DS PH200M dive watch

Certina’s latest DS PH200M, out this week, comes in a 39mm case with a mother of pearl dial, giving the watch a sort of cross-gender appeal that might explain why the watchmaker is promoting it as a Valentine’s Day gift watch.

There is a freshness to the look of the watch thanks to rose gold and diamond hour markers, gold hands with white lume and a white ceramic bezel with gold details.

It could be a paired into a his and hers combination if bought together with a darker version of the same watch that launched in the fall of last year, Certina suggests.

That watch was created after the public voted on elements of its design. Interestingly, Certina was looking to design a ladies dive watch, and the punters chose to make it black with diamond hour markers.

It may be light and bright to look at, but there is plenty of power (80 hours) under the hood thanks to the use of Swatch Group’s Powermatic 80.611 movement with Nivachron balance spring, which means it is unaffected by magnetic fields.

The steel watch comes on a beige fabric strap made from #tide material and is water resistant to 200 meters.

UK retail price is £785, around $885 here, and the watch goes on sale in February.
