Snoopy and Woodstock appear on latest MoonSwatch Mission to Earthphase

Latest MoonSwatch arrives with the Sturgeon Moon on August 9

The first MoonSwatch with Snoopy on the dial triggered a brief return to the excitement of the early mania for the Omega x Swatch partnership.

Launched in March of 2024, the Snoopy x MoonSwatch watch was a bright white chronograph with a moonphase subdial where Snoopy slowly rotated as he snoozed on a crescent moon. A black edition arrived a month later.

For Omega Speedmaster fans, Snoopy is sacred as the unofficial mascot of NASA and a reminder of the watch’s historic role in the first manned moon landing in 1969.

Although MoonSwatch’s 2021 hysteria has passed, it is thought the collection is still generating sales of one million units per year through a greatly expanded global Swatch Store network.

That network will soon be receiving a brand new MoonSwatch with Snoopy on the dial, this time joined with his bird-brained pal Woodstock.

The pair sit in their astronaut helmets at 9 o’clock on a white dial in the MoonSwatch Mission to Earthphase configuration that shows both the phases of the moon from earth and the phases of the earth as seen from Snoopy and Woodstock’s vantage point on the lunar surface.

The white dial, with central hours, minutes and chronograph hands, contrasts with a dark blue bioceramic case, bezel and fiber strap.

Closer inspection of the dial shows the dark blue accents of the hands and other details are decorated with the shimmer of stars in a night sky.

It drops on August 9, the date of the full Sturgeon Moon, which is named after the large number of giant sturgeon fish that were found in the Great Lakes in North America at this time of year.

This has given rise to a visual gag on the latest MoonSwatch. Look carefully at the Moonshine Gold moons and you will see one of them caught in a fishing net.

Snoopy’s pawprint appears on the other moon.

Another secret reveals itself after dark when the earthphase is illuminated in blue along with a thought-bubble showing Snoopy musing: “I beat everybody”.

The quote is a reference to a famous comic strip published on July 20, 1969 — the day that Neil Armstrong first set foot on the moon — which prompted the famous beagle to declare: “I did it. I beat the Russians. I beat everybody. I even beat that stupid cat next door”.

The same quote appears on the new MoonSwatch’s case back.

All other details are inherited from earlier MoonSwatch models: a case measuring 42mm x 13.75mm housing a quartz chronograph movement.

The watch will only be sold in Swatch stores, priced at $380.
