Tissot will be hoping to repeat the commercial success of its PRX reissue with this year’s launch of a second line of sporty steel timepieces based on a reference from the archive.
The PRC 100 first appeared in the mid-2000s as a line of affordable quartz watches with 12-sided bezels. Its name is derived from its mission to be Precise, Reliable and Classic.
They return as PRC 100 Solar Quartz watches in a five-piece collection with a choice of three dial colours and the option of interchangeable straps or integrated bracelets.
Another everyday, robust, precise and classical all-rounder from TISSOT, the PRC 100 Solar has a bold silhouette and a sunray dial that plays with light and gives the watch a strong presence on the wrist.
Tissot has installed a new Lightmaster Solar Quartz movement, the equivalent of Citizen’s Eco-Drive module that will give the rechargeable battery-powered pieces almost unlimited life.
Light is captured and converted into energy through the crystal and dials of the watches.
All five versions come in the same size and shaped 39mm case. Two steel-on-steel models have a choice of a silver sunray dial that plays with reflections or a deep blue dial that captures depth and dimension.
For a more stealthy look, the full-black model with matching bracelet is dark and imposing on the wrist.
The black case and dial can be paired with a black leather strap while the steel variant can be bought on a brown leather strap.
Prices range from $475 to $575, similar to the pricing for quartz-based PRX pieces.
With everlasting batteries, thanks to their Lightmaster charging, TISSOT says the new PRC 100 Solar watches are built for those who never pause, always charged, always moving forward like the force that keeps the world turning, it’s a constant, ready for every moment.
