Tudor will be hoping it can replicate the success of its Black Bay Chronograph in ‘Flamingo Blue’ with the release of a trim 37mm edition of its Black Bay 54 in ‘Lagoon Blue’.
The steel-on-steel watch also introduces a new sand texture finish to its dial, making it the ideal complement to a season of sunsets, sea, sand, and slowing down, Tudor suggests.
And it is sold on a mirror- and brush-finished five-link bracelet; a first for the 54 family.
Everything is relaxed, almost louche, in the look and feel of the watch. The use of brushed finishing contrasting with the gleaming polished countdown bezel softens its appearance while the pale blue and white used for the sandblasted three-hand dial has you dreaming of lying back in the sunshine looking at a blue summer sky.
The Black Bay 54’s design is based on a Tudor Oyster Prince Submariner reference 7922 from 1954, which introduced a simpler dial and a smaller crown.
The modern interpretation is waterproof to 660 feet and is powered by a COSC-certified Tudor manufacture calibre MT5400 COSC-certified with a silicon balance spring and 70-hour power reserve.
They are on sale for $4,350.
Promotional images for the watch are shot with both male and female models.
