Back in 2005, Hublot took the “Art of Fusion” mission a giant leap forward with a fearless and peerless new collection – the Big Bang.
One of the biggest launches of the year, the model had the conservative Swiss clutching their pearls at the arrival of a new breed of watches mixing steel, gold, fibreglass, rubber and ceramic.
Earlier this year, CEO Julien Tornare told WatchPro that, “Back in 2005, Hublot shook the industry and everyone recognises how important that was for watchmaking in general.
It has been quite calm recently and we have to bring back the things that were happening a few years ago.”
Since the start of this year, the brand has been doubling down on the anniversary, releasing an arsenal of new Big Bangs that will hopefully light fireworks in the financial department – noteworthy mentions go to January’s Big Bang Tourbillon Automatic Green SAXEM and the five limited-editions that came out of Watches and Wonders.
While 20 years is a blink of the eye in watchmaking, it makes for a strong narrative for 2025, and Hublot is proud to celebrate the barriers that its Big Bang has broken down in just two decades with a party or two.
On Thursday, Hublot hosted an evening at The Lookout in Central London, where ineffably cool attendees drank branded cocktails (including the “Own It” cocktail, a reference to the brand’s new campaign) and partied to tunes from rapper Headie One who pulled up to perform at the event.
The guestlist included the likes of fellow rapper Ghetts and Chelsea FC footballer Trevor Chalobah.
