Audemars Piguet unveils Middle East exclusive Royal Oak Concept Flying Tourbillon

Crafted from CFT Carbon, the model was made in collaboration with UAE collectors

When it comes to the Big Three, it’s always going to be a case of ‘make it and they will come’, but the impact of collectors on watchmaking isn’t one to be ignored, as Audemars Piguet demonstrates with a new Royal Oak dedicated to Middle East fans.

A new 42mm special-edition Royal Oak Concept Flying Tourbillon was designed with the help of the maison’s most dedicated collectors, who were consulted for their creative input during a workshop held in Dubai in June 2022 – a first in the world of fine watchmaking.

The avant-garde timepiece features a noteworthy two-tone Chroma Forged Technology (CFT) carbon case, a material first seen in September 2024 with the Royal Oak Concept Split-Seconds Chronograph GMT Large Date.

This patented process involves layering and compressing colored carbon fibers with resin before curing the mixture under high pressure. The result is a strikingly unique material, where each watch case is treated to an individual pattern for a one-of-a-kind finish.

For this edition, metallic bronze hues harmonize with the black ceramic bezel, screw-locked crown, and push-piece guards, offering an ultra-lightweight and durable design that maintains water resistance up to 50 meters.

The black ceramic caseback is paired with a pink-gold inner bezel, engraved with the “Royal Oak Concept” name and showcasing the movement through a sapphire crystal window.

The dial reflects the timepiece’s futuristic character, with a black inner bezel and bridges contrasted by pink gold inserts. These elements highlight the balance wheel, luminescent hour markers, and hands, enhancing readability and visual depth.

Mesh decorations at 4, 8, and 12 o’clock subtly reveal the intricate Caliber 2978 within – a hand-wound movement with a total of 241 components.

Measuring 31mm in diameter and just 3.9mm thick, this high-precision mechanism boasts an impressive 72-hour power reserve and operates at a frequency of 3 Hz (21,600 vibrations per hour).

The flying tourbillon, a signature of the brand’s technical expertise, ensures superior accuracy and an eye-catching visual display.

Designed for versatility, this limited-edition watch comes fitted with a black rubber strap featuring a titanium AP folding clasp, as well as a black alligator leather strap for when smart occasions call.
