In a bold move that challenges conventional watchmaking, luxury Swiss brand Ulysse Nardin has partnered with Kyrgyzstan-born designer Vsevolod Sever Cherepanov, known by his artistic moniker Amoureuxpeintre, to create a unique timepiece that transcends the traditional boundaries of horology.
The creative pairing sees the launch of a new timepiece, the Blast X. A limited edition of just 29 pieces, this watch offers an exploration into the perception of time itself.
Amoureuxpeintre, a multifaceted entrepreneur, model, and designer, is renowned for his bold, minimalist designs. With a career spanning fashion, graphic design, and interior architecture, he has worked with major brands like Nike, Alyx, 424, and Nemen.
His ventures include launching the upcycled fashion brand GENESIS 2.0 and the interiors division HOME 2.0, and he has even ventured into the world of photography, presenting an exhibition in 2021 in partnership with the ISSMAG gallery.
Guided by Amoureuxpeintre’s minimalist yet emotive vision, the timepiece subtly reveals its mechanics beneath foggy, frosted sapphire glass which is detailed with the brand’s signature black typography. This effect took two years of development alone.
Grey-lumed anthracite hands and a subtle hash marker rehaut transition with a fumé finish, creating a ghostly, introspective effect that invites the wearer to search the dial for greater detail – this is a watch that doesn’t just tell time, but offers a profound reflection on how we experience the world around us.
This cleverly skeletonized design houses the Nardin UN-171 automatic movement, which powers the watch’s hours, minutes, and seconds functions, and is also visible through an open caseback.
It has 96 hours of power reserve, is water-resistant to 50 meters and comes with a black rubber strap for a contemporary and comfortable fit.
Rendered with a striking 42mm titanium case in an anthracite PVD coating, it has a sandblasted, stealthy finish that sets the piece apart as a convergence of horological art that levels up what should be expected from collaborative projects.
The Blast X is one of 29 limited-edition watches, and is priced at $32,700.
