Yema introduces ‘big eye’ regatta timer

Mecaquartz Yachtingraf Croisière pays tribute to a 1960s classic.

Yema has introduced a new version of a classic regatta timer called the Yachtingraf Croisière.

The new watch is based on a classic design from the 1960s, and features an asymmetrical tri-compax design.

The Yachtingraf Croisière has the ‘big-eye’ sub register at 9 o’clock that acts as the countdown to a yacht race.

The chronograph has a central seconds counter, while at 6 o’clock is the small running seconds counter, and at 3 o’clock is the 24-hour counter.

The watch is powered by Seiko’s VK63 hybrid mecaquartz movement.

The VK63 movement uses quartz tech for the main timekeeping functions and a mechanical module for the chronograph.

The matte dial is in either blue or white has raised steel faceted markers and faceted steel hour and minute hands.

The 38.5mm stainless steel case is water-resistant to 100m.

It comes on either a Milanese-style mesh stainless-steel bracelet or a grained leather strap.

Yema has a long tradition of making sailing chronographs – the French company is the official timekeeper to races like the Route du Rhum, a solo transatlantic race that takes place every four years.

The Yema Yachtingraf Croisière comes with a two-year guarantee for $369 at yema.com.
