Gisbert L. Brunner is a writer whose Watch Book series has previously focused on Rolex, Oris, TAG Heuer and more.
The author has unveiled his latest coffee table book for the watch aficionado.
Hanhart and the German Watch Industry takes a look at the country’s horological background through the lens of one brand.
The brand Hanhart was founded in Switzerland in 1882 before relocating a few years later to Germany’s Black Forest.
The illustrated book shows the watchmaker’s historical triumphs, becoming a successful stopwatch maker in the 1920s, then pioneering wristwatch chronographs in the 1930s.
Hanhart also made the first pilot’s chronograph for the German armed forces.
In a mixture of pictures and anecdotes, the book shows the important milestones and deals with the challenges Hanhart and the wider watch industry in Germany had to overcome.
Brunner has been writing about and collecting watches for 60 years and has now published more than 25 books.
The information text on each page of the new book is written in both German and English.
