Universal Genève’s digital-first rebirth

No new watches have been unveiled, but Universal Genève has stepped out into cyberspace

Universal Genève rebirth under the leadership of Breitling CEO Georges Kern comes a step closer today with the unveiling of its website, social media and the launch of a UG online magazine detailing its history.

Universal Genève was bought by private equity investors Partners Group and CVC Capital Partners and will be relaunched as a second brand in the Breitling stable.

Enthusiasts are being promised Universal Genève’s heritage will be protected while the company introduces new manufacture movements, retail boutiques, and striking watch designs.

“There is a lot to look forward to, and this is just the start of a significant journey,” Mr Kern says.

Details of new watches are under wraps, but speculation in watch collecting circles suggests UG will create modern manufacture versions of its Tri-Compax, Aero-Tri-Compax, Polerouter, and Polar-Compax collections.
