Tissot hit the sweet spot in 2021 with the re-introduction of its sporty, seventies-inspired PRX family, first in quartz, and later that year with Swiss-made Powermatic automatic movements.
With prices starting at around $300 for quartz and $600 for automatics, the watches quickly found a market for people appreciating Swiss engineering mixed with classic waffle-textured dials in an integrated steel-on-steel sports watch collection.
The widely acclaimed PRX range has been a commercial hit for Tissot, and turned into a platform watch made in an array of sizes and colourways.
It was based on a Tissot from the 1970s and the first modern iteration stuck to quartz, like the original, but had a slightly larger case to fit modern sensibilities.
The huge success of the watch with new generations of buyers has led to a great expansion of the range.
So there are still accessibly priced quartz models of different sizes, but also automatics, chronographs and even a PRX with a forged carbon case.
Until recently the smallest case size was 35mm, going up to 42mm for the chronographs.
Baby PRX
Tissot has now introduced a new baby to the range, with five new quartz watches with diminutive 25mm cases.
The smaller case size retains the PRX style, with a tonneau case and integrated steel bracelet.
Three of the new watches have sunburst dials in either blue, black, or golden.
The black and golden dials are finished with diamond hour markers.
The golden dialed watch has a matching PVD gold case and bracelet.
The two other models have mother-of-pearl dials, one with a stainless-steel bezel, the other with a rose gold PVD bezel.
They are powered by a quartz movement with an end of life (EOL) function.
The watches are water-resistant to 100m. Prices start at $325
