The 1916 Company mobile app helps you browse and buy on the go

Browse watches, read news and check certification with new app.

The 1916 Company has introduced an app that allows collectors to browse through thousands of new and pre-loved watches.

It is the latest innovation from a brand formed at the end of last year when pre-loved specialist WatchBox merged with US jewelers Govberg, Hyde Park and Radcliffe.

The app is designed to offer users a seamless experience in exploring the company’s inventory of luxury watches.

Danny Govberg, executive chairman of the 1916 Company, has been instrumental in steering the company toward this latest development.

Govberg co-founded Watchbox in 2017 and decided on the name of the new business in honour of his family.

Govberg Jewelers was founded in Philadelphia by Danny’s grandfather in 1916, and the name continues his legacy.

Govberg has referred to the new company affectionately as a “107-year-old start-up”.

As well as browsing watches, clients can read the latest industry news and also use the app to find detailed information on individual pieces, such as via Rolex’s Certified Pre-Owned programme.

The new $500m company is a global powerhouse, and as well as making great strides digitally, it is very strong in bricks and mortar, with over 20 locations, including multi-brand and mono-brand boutiques.
