Scottish Watches and Formex go star-gazing over the Isle of Skye

Collaboration with Formex produces a dial with hidden gems paying tribute to the Scottish island.

Scottish Watches has worked with Swiss watchmaker Formex to produce a limited edition Essence 39 that pays tribute to its Caledonian roots.

Scottish Watches is a website and successful podcaster and Youtube channel that was founded five years ago by Rikki Daman and Dave Sharp.

After gaining a large following, they have gone on to make collaboration watches with the likes of Swatch and Christopher Ward.

The new Formex x Scottish Watches Essence “Skye” watch has an aventurine glass dial designed to look like a starry night sky over the celebrated island in Scotland’s Inner Hebrides archipelago.

And the dial is not what it first appears – there are ultraviolet details that mean there is more to discover.

It has luminous drops that “come alive” under ultraviolet light, with lume glowing like the Northern Lights, and there is also a little concealed artwork of Dunvegan Castle.

An ultraviolet torch is included in the gift box, so buyers can see the dial’s hidden depths.

It comes in a 39mm stainless-steel case and is powered by a COSC-certified Sellita automatic movement with a 41-hour power reserve.

It is limited to just 100 numbered pieces, and costs £1650/$1,890 on a leather or rubber strap.

You can also choose a three-link stainless-steel bracelet for an extra £100/$100.

“We’ve been champions of Formex for years as they offer unparalleled features at an insanely low cost, so working with them on a limited edition piece was always on the cards,” says Rikki Daman, CEO & Co-Founder of Scottish Watches.

“Not only is the watch a technical marvel, but it also has the right amount of fun and humour that will bring a smile to anyone that learns its secrets.”

Raphael Granito, CEO of Formex, adds: “Collaborating with the team at Scottish Watches has been an incredible experience. We instantly connected when we first met over four years ago and knew we’d end up working together in the future. The Aventurine dial brings a level of elegance to the Essence that surpasses any other dial in the collection.”

The Formex x Scottish Watches Essence “Skye” is available now at Formexwatch.com.
