Richard Mille has a long list of sports stars on its roster, but the uber-luxury brand is also busy deepening ties with the art world.
In 2021, the Richard Mille Art Prize was launched, aimed at supporting artists who are pushing the boundaries of contemporary art.
Now, Richard Mille has announced a long-term partnership with the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
MoMA was founded in 1929, and made its name with exhibitions showcasing the likes of Pablo Picasso and Willem de Kooning.
The collaboration is launched to coincide with the return to the museum of Christian Marclay’s award-winning installation The Clock – a day-long montage of film and TV images of clocks, edited to show the correct time across a 24-hour period.
“This new partnership strengthens our commitment to the world of art,” said Amanda Mille, daughter of the founder and Global Brand & Partnerships Director at Richard Mille.
She added: “We are thrilled to partner with MoMA, a world-renowned institution that shares our passion for pushing the boundaries of creativity. This collaboration allows us to explore the intersection of art, technology, and design in new and exciting ways, reflecting the very essence of what Richard Mille stands for.”
Glenn D. Lowry, the David Rockefeller Director at MoMA, said: “We are delighted to partner with Richard Mille, known around the world for innovation, creativity, and the highest calibre of design, to help us create more opportunities for audiences to engage with the art of our time in new and exciting ways.”
HE added: “We couldn’t be more thrilled to begin the partnership with their support of a new presentation of Christian Marclay’s The Clock, an inspiring artwork that is both a cinematic tour-de-force and a functioning timepiece.”
