MB&F unleashes flyback chronograph Legacy Machine

Pilot-friendly chrono feature featured in new platinum-cased LM.

MB&F has unveiled a flyback version of its prize-winning twin chronograph Legacy Machine.

The Legacy Machine Sequential EVO came out in 2022, offering the ability to time two separate racers at the same time.

That watch won the top ‘Aiguille d’Or’ prize at 2022’s GPHG.

The new Legacy Machine Sequential Flyback adds a flyback timing function favoured by pilots.

The watch has the same twin chrono display as the LM Sequential EVO. One has its seconds display at 9 o’clock and minutes display at 11 o’clock. The other has its seconds display at 3 o’clock and minutes display at 1 o’clock.

Each chronograph can be started, stopped, and reset independently of the other, using the start/stop and reset pushers on each side of the case.

With the new flyback function, the reset pushers also trigger the flyback when the chronograph is running.

There is also a fifth pusher, called the Twinverter, at the 9 o’clock position. This pusher controls both chronograph systems, operating as a binary switch that inverts the current start/stop status of each chronograph.

So if both chronographs are stopped, pressing the Twinverter causes both of them to start simultaneously.

If they are both running, the Twinverter makes them stop. And, if one is running and the other is stopped, the Twinverter stops the one that is running and starts the one that is stopped.

The Legacy Machine Sequential Flyback has a sky-blue dial plate and is limited to 33 pieces.

The fully integrated dual chronograph flyback system, developed for MB&F by Stephen McDonnell, is manual-winding with double mainspring and has a 72-hour power reserve.

The 44mm platinum case is water-resistant to 30m.

It is on sale for CHF 188,000.
